Pinnacle lawsuit against insurance companies

Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. announced that, on August 1, 2006, it filed suit in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada against three of its excess insurance carriers. The suit relates to the loss incurred by Pinnacle as a result of Hurricane Katrina at its Casino Magic property in Biloxi, Mississippi. Collectively, the three insurers provide $300 million of coverage, in excess of $100 million of coverage provided to Pinnacle by other insurers. In total, Pinnacle's policies applicable to the Hurricane Katrina loss provide an aggregate of up to $400 million of coverage for loss caused by a weather catastrophe occurrence (as defined by the policies) and up to $100 million of inclusive coverage for loss caused by a flood occurrence. The three insurers are Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Company, Arch Specialty Insurance Company and RSUI Indemnity Company. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), owner of the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, has donated a total of more than $13,800 to 14 high schools to fund alcohol and chemical-free graduation events. Each year the SMSC supports these parties at the request of organizers of the event. This year the SMSC is helping to sponsor senior class parties for high schools in the local area including Prior Lake, Shakopee, Burnsville, Delano, Eastview (Apple Valley), Jordan, Kennedy (Bloomington), Mound Westonka, Richfield, Rosemount and the School of Environmental Studies (Apple Valley). The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe Donations Committee allocated over $31,000 to non-profit agencies during the second quarter of 2006. Organizations that received funding are: Volunteers of America, Task Force for Children’s Arts, Rapides Reading is Fundamental, Pineville Fire Department, Operation Help, LaSalle Associate for Developmentally Delayed, Jobs for American Graduates, Holy Ghost Catholic Church, City of New Roads, First Harvest Community Garden, Cottonport Lions Club, Cottonport Volunteer Fire Department, Christus Cabrini Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb, Chateau des Amis, Cenla Roadrunners, Avoyelles Council of Aging, Alexandria Alumni Chapter, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, American Legion Auxiliary, Pediatric Therapy Center, and Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
