Black Oak Casino and the Tuolumne Band of Mi-Wok are pleased to announce their two-year commitment as presenting sponsor of the 2006 Northern California Open Championship. This prestigious three-day event set for Sept. 25-27 includes a Senior Open Championship to be played at Diablo Grande Resort (Patterson, Calif.) with the NCO Pro-Am and Northern California Open Championship to be conducted at the nationally ranked Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis, Calif. SMSC supports Minnesota youth

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), owner of the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, has donated a total of more than $13,800 to 14 high schools to fund alcohol and chemical-free graduation events. Each year the SMSC supports these parties at the request of organizers of the event. This year the SMSC is helping to sponsor senior class parties for high schools in the local area including Prior Lake, Shakopee, Burnsville, Delano, Eastview (Apple Valley), Jordan, Kennedy (Bloomington), Mound Westonka, Richfield, Rosemount and the School of Environmental Studies (Apple Valley). The SMSC is also helping sponsor graduation activities at the Marty Indian School, Flandreau Indian School and Little Wound School both in South Dakota. ... Read More

Allocation of funding in Tunica-Biloxi

The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe Donations Committee allocated over $31,000 to non-profit agencies during the second quarter of 2006. Organizations that received funding are: Volunteers of America, Task Force for Children’s Arts, Rapides Reading is Fundamental, Pineville Fire Department, Operation Help, LaSalle Associate for Developmentally Delayed, Jobs for American Graduates, Holy Ghost Catholic Church, City of New Roads, First Harvest Community Garden, Cottonport Lions Club, Cottonport Volunteer Fire Department, Christus Cabrini Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb, Chateau des Amis, Cenla Roadrunners, Avoyelles Council of Aging, Alexandria Alumni Chapter, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, American Legion Auxiliary, Pediatric Therapy Center, and Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Chinook Winds Casino Resort was selected to share in the announcement of Embarq, separation of the local company from Sprint Nextel, as the newest member of the New York Stock Exchange. They have also been named to the S&P 500. At the New York Stock Exchange, on June 1, Chairman of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians Delores Pigsley helped ring the opening bell when the local Sprint Company became Embarq. Chinook Winds Casino Resort was selected from all of the Sprint Nextel business customers’ in the Western Region. This is the first time a company from the Northwest has been invited to an event of this caliber. Chinook Winds, along with another Pacific Northwest customer from Seattle will be representing the Pacific Northwest in New York City. Local council of Orebro, a town in Sweden, has closed down an internet caf? after a claim that this business needs a special gambling permit. The caf? owners thought that using PCs for gambling isn't the same as operating casinos and took their case to the country administrative board and the administrative court, both rules that PC's used to gambling require a special license for gambling. Sweden is imposing a strict condition on the gambling industry in order to prevent problem gambling. Around 200,000 residents of this country are estimated to play online poker. ... Read More
