1st hotel casino in Tucson

The new Desert Diamond casino will be the first ever hotel casino in Tucson Arizona. The new casino was built by the Tohono O'odham Nation next to an old casino on the Nogales Highway. The property will have a hotel, conference center and restaurants besides the casinos. The new hotel casino will not stay alone for a long time, since the Salt River Indian Community are planning to build another casino hotel to replace Casino Arizona at the Talking Stick's temporary facilities northeast of Indian Bend Road. Harrah's Inc. is also searching for a lodging facility next to their Phoenix Ak-Chin casino resort. The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation also opened a Radisson last November. Online gambling addict faces trial

Sharna Baker, a bank clerk from Goffs Oak, stole almost half-a-million pounds from her work place in order to feed her addiction to internet gambling. Baker, 26, sold her flat and spent her money betting on horse racing and football. Later she started stealing money from the Japanese merchant bank where she was working. Baker already has three convictions for dishonesty as a teenager and is now divorced and five months pregnant. Baker's scam was discovered a month after she has been made redundant. John Elliot, the prosecutor, said that Baker stole 460,940.77 pounds from her bosses. The judge passed a 51-week jail sentence suspended for two years, during which Baker will be electronically tagged and forced to attend a support group for gamblers. ... Read More
Philadelphia Slots Hearing

Monday, Philadelphia state gambling regulators will begin listening to testimonies in order to determine which will be the best suited applicant for the new machine parlor operator. There are two licenses up for grabs and the applicants are Donald Trump's casino company, a real estate billionaire from Chicago, the Indian tribe that owns the Foxwoods casino in Connecticut and some other investors. All the applicants are suggesting to place the project along the Delaware river while the Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. proposed an unused industrial area in northwest Philadelphia. There are 18 scheduled hearings in which the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will discuss 22 applications for slots parlors across the state. The city officials hope to award all 14 licenses by the end of this year. The expected profit for the city from tax on slots revenue is about $25 million each year.

Two new casinos for the Muckleshoot tribe

The Muckleshhot tribe is building two new casinos at its property near Auburn. The new projects are promised to expand the tribal gaming revenues. The Muckleshoot tribe is building a new bingo hall on the reservation across the street from the tribes casino, just where the old mini-mall, which was torn down, was standing. This bingo hall will replace the current bingo hall on the tribe's casino property. The tribe spokesman announced that the new two-story bingo hall will accommodate about 1,100 players at it's 65,000 square feet space. The bingo hall is expected to open in August. The second project is a new 42,000 square feet casino that will feature video slot machines, gaming tables, a bar, a deli and other casino facilities. This casino is scheduled to open in September. New Korean technology can upgrade casinos functioning using a new designed electronic gaming chips. The electronic chip allows gamblers and the casino to count exactly how many chips they are betting on using a technology called Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). Using the RFID technology, the electronics chips can send a signal to nearby computers while the output will be displayed on the screen, showing how many chips are stacked on specific areas or numbers on the table.
The electronic chips will have tiny metal chips embedded into them and they will have the ability to be tracked by the RFID system. The result will be an exact control on the betting by the casino and the gamblers. ... Read More
